Overview
Emergency Medicine: Academic Forum is a series that applies a robust, multifaceted learning approach for improved emergent patient care across the interdisciplinary team.

Objective(s): 1 Apply evidence-based clinical decision tools and risk stratification strategies to identify high-risk populations requiring immediate intervention, particularly focusing on elderly patients and immunocompromised individuals with abdominal pain. 2 Demonstrate proper documentation of social and structural barriers to care within the MDM section, while maintaining compliance with billing and medical-legal requirements. 3 Construct MDM notes that effectively integrate structural determinants of health with traditional clinical reasoning to support disposition planning and care transitions. 4 Formulate evidence-based treatment plans for common but serious rash presentations, including appropriate antibiotic selection for cellulitis, management of severe drug reactions, and criteria for admission versus outpatient follow-up. 5 Systematically evaluate acute hand injuries in the emergency department setting, including the identification of high-risk injuries requiring immediate specialist consultation and those amenable to initial ED management.
